Sometimes I am asked — what is my favorite design I've created? I always answer that all of them are equally special. I think if I was completely honest, I could pick certain favorite graphics and illustrations out of my already pretty big collection. What makes a design a personal favorite is the emotion it evokes in me. I can look at it and think: it's super cute and funny! or even: it was so difficult for me to execute! Strong emotions make the design more tangible for me, more personal, more engaging. It's amazing — if you think about it — that you can create something from pure idea(s). My main purpose when I create is to appeal to people, of course, because people enjoying my products is my biggest motivation and inspiration. When that consumer interest aligns with my art idea — boom! It's the biggest joy for a commercial artist like me. So, here are two of my personal favorites:
2) "Stay Wild" illustrated raccoon design. His ear is slightly torn at the top — if you look closer. It gives him a mischievous troublemaker vibe. Or maybe it's a girl raccoon who loves a good fight! I find this detail adorable and funny. The design is different from most of my California themes because it shows a slightly different side of Southern California. California is so big and beautiful — it's not just about surfing and palm trees.
