As a local resident and illustrator, I am happy to share my love for Balboa Island, a hidden gem in Southern California. This charming community has inspired my designs, and I am excited to take you on a tour to my favorite spots.

Balboa Island Baking Company: A sweet Haven
I start my island walk with a visit to Balboa Island Baking Company, where I grab a cup of hot green tea and a fresh coconut almond scone. As I walk, I watch people passing by and enjoy the boats on the water, savoring my scone with each step.
Ciao, a Southern Italian cuisine on Balboa Island. One of my favorites is Caesar salad with anchovies - if you like anchovies😉 - the perfect balance of flavors, not too dry, not too creamy, just perfect! Their pizza is delicious, and what truly sets Ciao apart is its cozy atmosphere. My advice: grab a seat by the open window, and you will feel like you are dining in Europe…or so I’ve heard, I’ve never actually been to Europe myself, except for that one time I visited Czech Republic! I love sipping a glass of wine and enjoying a lovely conversation with a friend while taking in the ambiance. It’s a great place to visit.
Balboa Island Ferry: Coastal delights
A ride on the Balboa Island Ferry to the Balboa Peninsula is a treat! Especially when combined with a leisurely bike ride along the beach, enjoying the ocean views and salty air. I love exploring the coast from different perspectives, and the ferry ride offers a unique and relaxing experience.
Artwalk and Community
Every May, Balboa Island hosts an annual Artwalk, and I am happy to participate! This event brings together local artists like me, giving us a platform to display and sell our designs. I cherish the opportunity to connect with the community, engage with tourists and locals alike, and receive valuable feedback. Seeing the reactions and appreciation for my work is very rewarding, and I love conversing with people who share my passion for art. The Balboa Island Artwalk is one of my favorite events, and I feel grateful to be a part of this vibrant and supportive community.
